How Long Does it Take to Get Installed with Wildanet?

A Step-by-Step Guide to Broadband Installation Time

When you’re switching broadband providers or connecting for the first time, one of the most important questions is how long it will take to get set up. At Wildanet, we aim to make installation as straightforward and efficient as possible, keeping you informed every step of the way.

Here’s what you can expect from the moment you place your order to the moment you’re online, and what might affect your broadband installation time.

What Is the Typical Installation Timeline?

Most Wildanet customers are connected within around 2-3 weeks after placing an order (subject to survey). This window allows time to schedule an engineer, prepare equipment, and confirm access requirements. In some cases, where the network is already in place, installation can be quicker; while rural properties or those needing extra external work may take a little longer. Either way, we’ll keep you updated at every step.

In some cases, where infrastructure is already in place and the property is easy to access, installation can be quicker. On the other hand, some rural or hard-to-reach areas may require additional work, which could slightly extend the timeline.

Step-by-Step: From Order to Activation

Order Confirmation
Once you’ve chosen your broadband package and completed your order, you’ll receive a confirmation and details of what to expect next. Our team will also begin checking the network availability and preparing your installation.

Site Check (if required)
For some properties, especially those in rural areas or with unusual layouts, a site visit may be arranged to assess what external or internal work might be needed before installation.

Appointment Scheduling
You’ll be contacted to confirm an installation slot that suits you. We try to offer flexible time slots wherever possible and keep disruption to a minimum.

Installation Day
On the day of installation, one of our local engineers will attend your property, informing you via text when they are on the way. They’ll set up the required equipment, install a router, and carry out any external work needed to connect your premises to the Wildanet network.

Once installation is complete, we’ll test the line to ensure you’re getting the speeds promised. The engineer will show you how everything works before leaving.

You’re Online
Once testing is complete, your connection is ready to go. You can start browsing, streaming, working, or gaming straight away.

What Could Delay Installation?

While Wildanet works to avoid delays, a few common factors can affect broadband installation time:

      • Property Access: If engineers can’t access key parts of the property, or if no one is home at the time of appointment, the work may need to be rescheduled.

      • External Works: Some locations require digging, new poles or cables. This will be assessed in advance, but can add time if permissions or traffic management are needed.

      • Weather Conditions: For safety, some outdoor work may need to be postponed during extreme weather conditions.

Our team will always keep you informed if delays are likely, and we work to minimise disruption at every stage.

    How to Prepare for Installation

To ensure a smooth installation experience:

        • Make sure someone aged 18 or over is available at home during the appointment

        • Clear the area around where you’d like the router installed

Notify the team in advance of any access issues (such as gates, pets, or shared driveways)
