Wildanet Award FAQs

Our team at Wildanet has been recognised across both national telecoms awards and regional sustainability awards, including:

  • Broadband Provider of the Year at the Connected Britain Awards 2024.

  • Best Rural Fibre Provider (Winner) and Best Sustainability Programme (Winner) at the UK Fibre Awards 2024.

  • Sustainability Award (Winner) at the Connected Britain Awards 2023 (linked to Wildanet’s “B23/B|23” initiative).

  • Most Sustainable Organisation: Large (Winner) at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2023.

Awards at the Adtran UK Fibre Awards 2022 (including recognition for marketing).

Many broadband awards assess aspects which customers actually feel day-to-day, such as:

  • Service delivery and operations (how reliably a provider can deliver and support connections)

  • Customer experience (communication, onboarding, support)

  • Innovation and rollout capability (especially challenging rural builds)

  • Sustainability and community impact (increasingly important in UK telecoms awards)

So the value isn’t just the trophy, it’s that independent judges are comparing providers on the same playing field.

“AltNet” (alternative network) providers are independent fibre builders/operators competing alongside larger incumbents. In rural regions, altnets often specialise in harder, lower-density builds where rollout is more complex and expensive per property. Wildanet positions itself as a Cornish-based provider focused on rural and underserved communities.

Rural fibre awards generally recognise excellence in:

  • Delivering fibre in geographically challenging areas

  • Build execution (planning, wayleaves, civils, deployment)

  • Connecting communities where commercial rollout is harder.

We were named UK’s Best Rural Fibre Provider at the UK Fibre Awards 2024.

Project Gigabit is the UK Government programme (run via BDUK) that subsidises gigabit-capable broadband rollout to hard-to-reach places. We were awarded Project Gigabit contracts in Cornwall, including a contract signed in April 2024 covering around 16,800 premises across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

B Corp certification is a third-party standard covering social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Wildanet’s listing shows certification since December 2023.
