Wildanet CEO (Helen Wylde) announces that Wildanet would be sponsoring a programme to see 22 other companies join us to work towards gaining the B Corp accreditation – this project became known as B|23.
Wildanet engaged Cornish B Corp and B Leaders Matt Hocking and Simon Thomason from Leap (the first accredited B Corp in Cornwall) and together, developed the B|23 programme.
Wildanet co-hosted a breakfast conference at the Eden Project in collaboration with the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce to announce the B|23 programme and to invite other businesses to register for the programme. The event attracted over 180 delegates including business owners, leaders from Cornwall Council and members of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce. Keynote presentations were given on B Corp, the triple bottom line of people planet, profit, and how interested parties could register to be part of the Wildanet B|23 project. Over 60 businesses registered, all of which were invited to an Inspiration Day to find out more.
Over 60 businesses registered their interest in the programme and were invited to an Inspiration Day held in Truro to learn more about the B Corp accreditation process, and register for the programme. There were guest panels, talks and an opportunity to ask questions of business that had already gone through the B Corp Business Impact Assessment themselves.
A series of B Corp workshops are being held in inspirational venues, with inspirational speakers. These include The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Cabilla Cornwall, Newquay Orchard, The National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, and The Hangar at Newquay. Speakers include Chris Hines, one of the founding members of Surfers Against Sewage, Finisterre founder Tom Kay, and Mark Cuddigan CEO of Ella’s Kitchen.
The cohort finishes in July with a garden party at Wildanet’s Head Office in Liskeard, when it is anticipated that all companies will be ready to submit their Business Impact Assessments to B Lab UK for consideration.
